An important focus is on developing instructional strategies tomeet the needs of these students. A reflection on this experience is made. This is done by seeking to validate the children’s cultures and experiences by using children’s books that are culturally relevant to them and that present positive representations of children and other ethnic groups-specifically African Americans and Latinos.
